Hungarian Vizslas are known as Hungary’s National dog. They are better known as hunters and their first trip to central europe from Hungary had been made during 13-14th centuries. The Hungarian Vizslas are known to be one of the best and purest kinds of breeds in the world. They are usually active and happy go lucky and their temparament is easy.
The personality of Hungarian Vizslas are known to be somewhere between that of a Pointer and a Spaniel. Hungarian Vizslas breed is sensitive and also stubborn at the same time. This is the very thing that makes Hungarian Vizslas training difficult. Smell is something that distracts Hungarian Vizslas big time. Hungarian Vizslas need a lot of exercise and they need to be occupied with a job of hunting or retrieving to remain at best of health. The owner of a Hungarian Vizslas should ideally love jogging and hunting if he’s to make friends with the dog.
As an owner of a Hungarian Vizslas you need to be patient yet firm at the same time to discipline the dog. You may also have to be physically strong to control the Hungarian Vizslas because they would grow up to 21-24 inches at the shoulder and would weight up to 45-60 pounds.
The short yet low coat that is one of the trademark features of Hungarian Vizslas (the same thing that made them survive through the warmer climate in Southern Hungary) need frequent brushing and grooming. So make sure you allocate the enough time aside for training and grooming for your dear Hungarian Vizsla.
